Another Carpetbagger

What is it with Bernardo bringing in people from other counties? Ya gotta ask yourself why she keeps doing this, almost as if she's dancing to a tune only she (and Chapman, and Bonacic) can hear:
Longtime Ulster County Deputy Legislative Clerk Karen Spinozzi has retired, effective immediately, and Legislative Chair Terry Bernardo has chosen Greene County's former IDA Director Alexander "Sandy" Mathes to replace the 40-year county employee. Bernardo said Spinozzi actually retired in 2007, but was helping out on an hourly basis.

"While I would love her to say, I fully understand her desire to spend more time living life outside the office," the legislative chair said.

She said she chose Mathes as replacement to fill Spinozzi's role as a means to "focus on providing economic development and finance advice, something he is highly qualified to give."
Great. So what kind of "qualifactions" does Mathes have? This kind:
An assemblyman’s inquiry into state authority employees’ bonuses revealed the executive director of the Greene County Industrial Development Agency received $175,000 in performance bonuses in 2009, while 23 employees of the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency shared $26,100 in longevity bonuses.

In a press release, state Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, D-Elmsford, said he began an inquiry into bonus payments to authority employees after learning nearly $3 million had been paid to two employees of the Fulton County Economic Development Corp. He said initial data shows bonus payments ranging from $1.5 million to $3,500.

“Some of these payments are obviously unacceptable and some may have reasonable explanations,” Brodsky said. “The initial data is all self-reported and it is simply unclear what the full extent of the problem may be.”
$175,000 in performance bonuses for Mathes, while the underlings starve. Nice work if you can get it..

Sounds like Mathes will fit right in to the Bernardo Gang.

When was the last time YOU got a $175,000 bonus for doing nothing (besides dealing, scheming, cheating)?

  2. Is there an end in sight to this crap???

  3. But we are all just sitting around doing nothing while these criminals, crooked politicans take advantage of us and make us look like fools.

  4. Hey Republicans, you are in charge. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!

  5. 7:46 Don't hold your breath! All 12 Republican legislators and 9 out of 11 Democratic ones voted her the Chair of Legislature, despite them knowing all there is to be known about Bernardos. Do you think is there a link between their votes and the fact that 19 legislators were on the Independence line? It can't be! They're all honest and principled public servants. Or are they?

  6. The Republicans will never do anything about it, at least not the ones in the Legislature. You are right - they all want the IND line and they will never do anything to get rid of the Bernardos unless their constituents tell them to. Every voting Democrat and Republican should call their Legislator and speak out.

Roger Rascoe whose wife, Jane, works for Senator Bonacic has no balls and won't say a thing. He apparently thinks that hiring all non-Ulster people (i.e., Langdon Chapman who is his wife's boss!) is a great idea. No leadership ability - he's a blind fool. The hiring of Sandy Mathes, disgraced Greene County IDA Executive Director, in the Legislative offices is just the icing on the cake and the idiot Republican Legislators stand there and say nothing! You can't make this stuff up.

  7. HONEST, Principals not in Ulster County Bernardo brought the Chicago form of goverment with them from NYC. Till the State starts looking at this they will continue and we will all be paying for it.The puppets in the legislature make the state look good and we all know how dysfunctional they are.I pray for the day they are all on the front page of the papers in handcuffs.

  8. I live in Ulster and I will remember this next time around when Jim Maloney makes his bi-annual visit asking for my vote. He had better be prepared to explain himself. Same goes for Dean Fabiano where my son's family lives, and Bob Aiello where my daughters family lives.
These Republicans have some explaining to do!

  9. The world is surprisingly full of things so implausible they would never fly in fiction, and the Ulster County Legislature is one of them.
Donaldson and Loughran, the only ones with a spine. All others play poker at Bernardo's.

  10. 11:48 They voted against Bernardo being chair, didn't they dawg?
The 21 others voted like bought sheep, didn't they dawg?
    What's your IQ dawg,I wonder?
This is not about partisan politics dawg. This is about a bunch of corrupted wannabees taking over Ulster County. If you don't grasp the connection between Bonacic, Rascoe, O'Halloran, Bernardo, Chapman, Parete the poker player, etc., then you are trully a dawg, dawg.

  11. hey "been there": it's funny that you write that Loughran and Donaldson are dim when you write like an idiot. They're the only ones out of 23 who had the courage to vote "no" on Terry Bernardo's chairmanship.

What Kool Aid did they drink? That the Bernardos are power hungry carbetbaggers? The other 21 sheeple went along with the Bernardos because they're afraid they won't get the Ind line next time. They guzzled the Kool Aid; kudos to Loughran and Donaldson.

  12. Maybe the sheriff since he doesn't plan on running should raid the Tuesday night poker game at Bernardo's. Also the legislature meeting in kingston since them screwoing us is prostitution and they get paid to do it. Just like the godfather in Albany Bonacic

  13. Not exactly sure why any of you people are surprised by any of this - the trend is obvious. Its only March so get use to it cause its is going to be a long year!

  14. hey their stooge Maloney chairs Economic Development for the last several years, are they saying he is out? Ulste lost Vitur in Saugerties, Fts in Gardiner, and Hunter in his hometown of Ulster. Reelect Maloney LOL

  16. By reading this blog I can see how this happened! It looks like a good portion of those that are responding didn't make it past the the third grade. Once the Board of Elections moved beyond coloring in the little circles for placing a vote it all went down hill. The Bernardos and their cronies should try to get more education funding cut because it will more than likely help them at the polls! Who knows if they are successful with that they won't need Len Bernardo's line - no sense beating around the bush... lets call a spade a spade... there is no Independent line it is the"Len Bernardo's line".

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah - I am so sure that Len Bernardo is concerned about hurting the Republican party... he is probably loosing sleep over it right now! And that is because he is pouring himself another drink to celebrate being one more day closer to the end of the Republican party! When are you people going to realize that he does not care about any of you?!?!

  18. Everyone of the legislators who chairs a committee or was granted special designation (like Ronk as Majority leader, Maloney as Vice Chair and Maio as Whip) is responsible and a part of this slimy group. They ALL supported the Bernardo takeover (including you, Rich Parete).

  19. THIS IS APPALLING!!! I am going to contact MY legislator and express my absolute outrage over all of these hiring of NON-RESIDENT individuals! OH RIGHT! MY legislator is the person hiring all of these people.

As another blogger stated "the driver of this out of control bus is “my” Legislator! Not voting for her didn’t do me any good because I still got her shoved down my throat – or should I say up my… never mind – you get the point!"

That statement would be funny if it wasn't TRUE!

  20. I saw here the answer to "Why hire Matthes?"

  21. Don't forget Chapman is originally a Greene County boi. Didn't he work for Senator Charlie Cook before being scooped up by the orange man himself? Hey let's play Six Degrees of John Bonacic. No doubt that Mathes is part of the web within 2-3 degrees.
