Bernardo Watch: Schooled on Robert's Rules

So, the Bernardo cabal made a stink a few weeks back regarding the need for new legislators to learn Robert's Rules of Order. Judging by last week's meeting, the person most in need of remediation is Bernardo herself. Take a look at the video (fast-forward to the 124-minute mark). In it, Legislator Tracy Bartels invokes Robert's Rules, saying that the legislation being considered must be "severed on demand," i.e, that a legislator can demand a separate vote for each piece of the legislation. Bernardo then asked if anyone wanted to second Bartels's motion. Bartels corrects Bernardo that no second is needed. Bernardo then asks if there is any discussion of the motion. Again, Bartels has to inform Bernardo that there is no discussion. The motion must be granted "on demand," in other words, a legislator can simply ask that certain bills -- in this case several abstracts -- be voted on separately.

Let's hope Bernardo will attend the session on Robert's Rules. Looks like she needs it.

  1. People, what the heck do you want from Terry Bernardo? She is dumb, period, end of discussion. Move on folks, nothing to see here!

On the other hand she produces an entertaining circus featuring Midget Leonard, Fawning Fawn, Roly Langdon Poly, Big Davey O'Crooked, and you are free to add to this list.

Robert's Rules? Terry was sure that's Kevin Roberts's ruler!

  2. With Trapeze Terry, the circus is complete!

  3. Ulster County could recoup some monies by selling tickets and opening a concession stand for their circus.

  4. Jokes aside, it must be said that Terry Bernardo, the first chairwoman of the Legislature, is a monument of inexperience; she acts like a mediocre actress rehearsing the part. When she has to deal with an unexpected situation, like the one triggered by Legislator Tracey Bartels, she is lost.

She is never in control – how can she? Her only qualification is being Mrs. Len Bernardo – the self-styled king-maker. Check other webcasts – it was painfully obvious that she could not make a clear motion or articulate an opinion, and she was given lessons in procedure by many Legislators.

  5. Bartels really gave it to Bernardo, who looked foolish. Even Chapman looked dumbfounded, which is laughable. Chalk one up for Bartels. Bernardo's lack of any real experience as a leader or even as a participant in a functioning board is evident.

  7. Legislator Provenzano stressed that chairpersons come and go...
Too bad it can only happen once a year!

  8. Given that among the requirements to be a leader are "Serve others, not yourself" and "Always remember where you came from," we can all be assured that Terry Bernardo is never going to be one! You can get away with being self-serving once or twice... but that's it. Looking forward to the chorus of "Bye-bye Mrs. Len Bernardo!"

  9. OMG - I just watched that section of the video. Bernardo clearly is in over her head. Why did she run for the chairmanship? It can't be because she thought she'd be the best ever - it's pure ego. Does she know what an ass she's making of herself and what a mockery she's making of the legislature? Is that Chapman to her left? He doesn't know what he's doing either.

  10. I blame the Republicans. They let her do this. Just about anyone else would be better. She is a fool, incompetent, and so narcissistic that she will never gain the respect of the Legislators.

  11. Narcissist is an apt description. Another is media whore. She just loves to see her name (and picture) in print (as long as it's not a "liberal" article. In Terry-speak that means any article where she doesn't sound like the county's long-awaited hero).

She uses news aggregators to propagate the articles where she manages to sound intelligent. Check out how many sites have run the Freeman article with her quotes on ORDA's takeover of Bellayre:

I'm sure there's more. We can only hope that Terry will find a pond to gaze upon her reflection and suffer the same fate as Narcissus.

  12. 4:42, you forgot one key element describing Terry Bernardo: arrogance!
Bad, explosive temper can be added to the mix too... Not a decent person!

  13. Fake! Terry Bernardo is fake! Watch this staged video and try not to cringe! Watch a clueless "reporter" mesmerized by media whore Terry Bernardo and fawning Fawn Tantillo, in an obviously arranged interview.

  14. "Being the chairman of the legislature is just another tool in my toolbox to help me accomplish things," she said.

That about sums it up. She's using the chairmanship as a springboard for higher office. I hope she does - then we'll be rid of her (and hopefully her husband too).

  15. I want her to debate someone, anyone, I don't care who. Notice in the videos of the Legislature. She has a book propped up in front of her with what is more than likely the script she is to follow. Then watch what happens when someone deviates from that script. Fear, anxiety, panic!!!!
    DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS!
